Public Pools - Commercial Pools Meeting the requirements of the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Safety Act for public pools is not only critically important to any operating public pool facility but also mandatory, all by December 20, 2008. Seasonal public pools and spas that are not in operation on December 19, 2008 need not meet the requirements of the Pool and Spa Safety Act until they return to operation. Due to the fast paced timeline for compliance, DesignRI has assembled a team of safety inspectors to conduct on-site, main drain system compliance verifications.
The compliance verifications includes a site visit to review your facilities current installation and determine if the facility meets the requirements of the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act. A detailed report will be assembled and provided outlining the findings and indicating compliance. If the existing drains are not in compliance, options for retrofit or replacement to meet requirements will be provided. Additionally, in certain instances, public pools and spas must have additional devices or systems designed to prevent suction entrapment. Complete detailed instructions will be provided, indicating items that need to be corrected, purchased and installed. Component options, depending upon availability, will be provided. What we do and how we can help: The conformance inspection that will be provided by DesignRI will include a site visit and review of any pool located at the aquatic facility. It includes travel and a detailed report indicating conformance or non-conformance for each body of water. Our mobile offices allow the detailed, conformance reports to be completed, printed on-site and made available at the end of the site visit.
The following items will be covered and addressed: The report will indicate compliance or non-compliance of each safety standard, including any main drain suction fitting. If an existing main drain suction fitting is not in compliance, current available options for retrofit or replacement to meet requirements of the Pool and Spa Safety Act will be provided. Additionally, in certain instances, public pools and spas must have additional devices or systems designed to prevent suction entrapment, all requirements will be reviewed and explained in detail.
